  • peeler
  • medium bowl
  • spatula
  • 5"x5" baking dish

Ingredients

For the Apples:

  • 2 apples peeled & thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp arrowroot starch (or tapioca flour)
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • squeeze of lemon juice

For the Crumble:

  • ¼ cup almond flour
  • ¼ cup roughly chopped raw nuts (I used a mix of cashews and walnuts)
  • 3 tbsp unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 2 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 2 tbsp ghee (sub butter, vegan butter or coconut oil)
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Toss apples with arrowroot, cinnamon and lemon juice. Add them to a small (5"x5") baking dish and flatten.
  • Add all crumble ingredients to a bowl and use your hands to incorporate the ghee into the mixture. Sprinkle the crumble evenly over the top of the apples, pressing down slightly.
  • Bake for about 35 minutes, until the crisp is getting golden. Let it cool slightly, then top with ice cream & enjoy!
